Save the Date

Friday, January 27, 2012

So excited to show you John and I's save the dates!

We put a lot of thought and creativity into these over the past couple weeks and thanks to my lovely maid of honor we were able to assemble them all in one day!

What do you think?

So I am getting married and one of the first tasks to do is to ask your Maid / Matron of Honor and Bridesmaids to be in the wedding. I decided to ask my girls with a little bit of love baked into a tasty pie.

It's true! A little over a week ago my amazing boyfriend (now fiance) John Choura proposed to me and now we are planning a wedding!

More details and ideas to come!

1 / 2

I recently ombred my hair, which was kinda a big deal for since it was only the second time I ever dyed my hair, and now I seem to be obsessed with not only awesome ombre hair but also with hair accessories!

I've never been one to wear headbands or clips but I'm thinking I might get into it for the Holiday season and to start it off I think I might buy myself the shinny #2!

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

I am starting to realize that I have a major shoe and purse fetish and I completely blame my mom. Here are my 4 favorites right now. I really wish I owned one of these items but I think it's safe to say they are for people with full time jobs :)

Have a great weekend!

I'm not sure if it's the pretty beads / colors or if it's just the necklaces paired with the lovely pictures but if I owned these beauties from asmallcollection, I think I might actually wear jewelry more.

The front of a Christmas card that didn't get used. I was told it looked too traditional... I'm starting to think I  have 'old people' taste. Is this true?

So I am rebranding myself for the final time (this time it is for real) and I have been going back and forth with using the color gold and/or bronze (both colors kind of coincide for me).

What do you think, yes or no?

pumpkin carving iii.

John and I have taken our pumpkin carving project to an even crazier level!

We decided that this week we would buy a pumpkin and instead of carving it, we would cut it in a different way so we could make yummy pumpkin treats out of it and let me say, it was a success!

You can find the recipe we used here: http://smittenkitchen.com/2006/10/promise-keeper-pumpkin-eater/

A prayer card I recently made for one of my friends who is a missionary in Utah with Holding Out For Help Ministries.

John and I have continued to do our pumpkin creations once every week so here is week three!

We decided we wanted to carve 'specialty' pumpkins (ones not normally grown for carving, more eating). I went with the cookie cutter carving idea and John went with the shaving tool idea. In my opinion they both turned out great. What do you think?

A new birthday card for my Nancy.

combining worlds.

I am so excited to share this new idea with you guys!

So I was thinking yesterday about how I tend to live in two worlds when it comes to passions of mine. I went to school for design and I am trying to make a career out of it. On the other hand I love to spend time perfecting my baking skills and making yummy treats for everyone. So why not combine to two worlds?

I have decided that every time I make a tasty treat I am going to blog about it AND THEN brand it! Genius, right?

So the above logo is my first go at it.

What do you guys think, is it as great of an idea as I think it is?

Who ever said having a part time job was lame is wrong! I love spending time learning how to bake new things during my down time!

Above are these cute little mini pumpkin pies I made today. They were supre easy and are super tasty!

Listen to John Mayer's Bold As Love and try to understand what he means by yellow is not so mellow.

The above image was made in inspiration of that song.

I recently discovered the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. They are chewy, soft, slightly crunchy and so tasty.

Take my advice and make these puppies.

You can find the recipe here

pictures taken by John Choura

Last October my boyfriend John Choura and I got a little extra creative with our pumpkin carving. The above images are the two pumpkins we ended up with; mine being the floral and his being the wood.

Two ideas we came across last year to make pumpkin carving easier:

1. Use an xacto knife to do the carving. The little plastic tools they sell at Albertsons just doesn't cut it (pun!) when you're trying to be detailed.

2. Use Christmas lights to light up the inside rather than a candle. The candle melts, goes out fast and can make the pumpkin rot faster on the inside but Christmas lights can last for as long as you need them too.

Happy carving!
